I have read this discussion in parts. Most shocking of all in America this week were the absolutely obscene comments made by Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. They are no Christians; they are zealots. Someone please remind their followers that Saint Peter and many others betrayed Jesus. When he needed them most, these who were his very best and closest friends, they left him all alone. And who was there when Jesus was crucified? Mary Magdalene, a whore all of her life - until she met a young man who showed her a more beautiful and fulfilling way of living. Jesus forgave her her sins, as he forgives all others, whether they accept him or not. Now that means EVERYONE. That was his promise to us all. Only arrogant man could twist these truths.
The question America faces now is simple: shall we be good or evil? The answers are not so easy, because the definitions have been distorted now, as they have been throughout history.
Here is my belief: there is true evil in this world, and we as Americans must ally with our friends to defeat it. As throughout and after the Second World War, when we have succeeded, we must offer hope to the innocent in these countries who have suffered under such an influence for so long. Allow me to be one who proposes in advance of a victory for civilization over evil, that a Marshall Plan be developed for the Middle East.
Evil shall never flourish in a place filled with hope for a better life. Not only Americans, but also others deserve the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We can now make this happen for many millions of deserving souls beyond our borders.
I, for one, have great hope in the love and generosity of the Unites States and its loving citizens. They are not selfish. They are not wild jingoists. They have always cared. We Americans now have the opportunity to repeat the beautiful work we set in place one-half century ago. From this enormous tragedy, we may build peace and beauty. The choice belongs to us.
God Bless You All Who Believe In Peace and Happiness,
