From a post (#22914) on Yahoo thread

"fneww,

Ya know in 1982 when I bought my first home PC and maxed out the memory at 640K bytes and hard disk at 10 MB, the guy at the store said "What in Gods name do you need 640K and 10 MB disk for?" Everything ran on a single 5 1/4 floppy then.

I rest my case>"

My thoughts exactly,

About 10 years ago I paid about $4,000 for my first 30MB 8 Mhz IBM AT (not including a lousy CGA monitor). My system vendor said that the 30MB hard drive would be all that I ever needed. I was glad to know that I would not have to replace it for many, many years......WRONG!

Does this sound familiar? ... "Who needs more bandwidth and higher bus speed," say the fudsters. Just last year I threw away 5 perfectly good 486 machines when I went to Pentiums. Business owners like me don't want to buy equipment that is guaranteed to be obsolete or non-upgradable in a year.

In the words of Intel four days ago,"SDRAM cannot meet emerging performance demands."

intel.com

I rest my case.

Sincerely,
