ID internet direct---the done deal. More details.

Internet Direct trades as IDX on VSE, and
has a home page with the BCTel deal description on
www.direct.ca/id/world/feb9/done.html. Posted Feb 9.

Its competition (ISTAR, trading as www.tse) has made a modest start in the North of
BC by partnering with a cable company in Terrace, BC. The area sure is
getting hot, since a private firm (at www.kermode.net) just came on line
at Xmas 95.

Istar has lots of resources. BC Tel has its monopoly and vast resources.
The battle for BC will be interesting. So far, Istar and IDX stock prices have
sagged a fair bit since their IPOs.

In terms of fundamentals, I just wonder how any INTERNET service provider
can make much money when there probably aren't many
consumer/domestic PCs available for them
to hook up to. Their domestic growth surely is constrained to be LESS
than the growth of home computer purchases, which is in the doldrums.

Meanwhile, the ISP dogfight will go on, and the stock prices of IDX and WWW
(etc) might continue to stagnate or fall for some months.

----but notice that WWW's chart shows a candlestick HAMMER at $9, which
implies that it is finding an end to its downtrend for a while.
