PC Crisis Line offers responsive service with answers to basic computing questions
Need computer help on your own terms? PC Crisis Line provides a competent telephone support service that can help solve your tech problems, with a toll-free number that's available 24/7. PC Crisis Line charges $3 per minute for the first 10 minutes of assistance, then additional minutes are a dollar each.
In test calls during business and nonbusiness hours, we always reached a friendly technician who accurately solved basic problems that involved Microsoft Office, Windows 98, and our network. If technicians needed to research a solution, they hung up and called back within 15 minutes. If they couldn't solve the problem, there was no charge.
For computing questions, you can also turn to Intel AnswerExpress, which isn't available 24 hours a day and charges a monthly subscription fee whether you use it or not. For these reasons, we prefer PC Crisis Line, which charges only when it provides solutions.
PC Crisis Line
Verdict: Responsive service with answers to basic computing and software questions. Rating: Four Stars Pros:Knowledgeable technicians; immediate answers; always open. Cons:Somewhat pricey.
