Military tribunals are looking better all the time as well.
I just wonder what Gates is really being sent to do. Let me see if I have the schedule straight: in May and June Obama will deal with Mideast peace, then by the summer he will turn to healthcare reform, the centerpiece of of agenda. Hm, do you suppose Mideast peace might not be quite wrapped up by then?
Meantime, all the lib pundits are bravely suggesting that it's time to stop fussing and talk to Hamas 'because they are entrenched in Gaza' and 'not talking hasn't worked very well.' And oh yes, we talked to the PLO and didn't that work out so well? Thus speaks a serious power. Not. As if Hamas were children who could be coaxed out of their religion and their ties to their paymasters. As if Hamas (and through them, Iran) wouldn't gain bigtime the instant America opened negotiations.
I can hear heads of states all over the Mideast asking their ambassadors to America, who is this guy Obama and what makes him tick? I can hear the answers now:
Well, sir, he thinks his powers of persuasion are infinite - look where they got him so far - and that dog shit will turn into gold on his command.
So, I should lay it on with a trowel, then?
Definitely, sir. And say nothing that he could construe as even the slightest criticism. He's not used to getting any criticism. Also be careful of getting into any details, because he doesn't know any details about our country. Stick to praising the wisdom of America's new tone and willingness to listen. Imply that a new day has dawned. That's safest. |
