the SpyBot program, as i recently learned and posted here, has a recovery folder. on the SB main page you'll see two options listed under SpyBot-S&D.... Search & Destroy and Recovery.

if your settings have check marks next to the "create backup" options (there are three to check), then everything you fixed is recoverable.

go to the Recovery page and you'll see every item you have removed.

the problem i encountered is with these .zip files in the recovery folder. NAV was having issues with scanned compressed files, so i had to uncheck that option in NAV. [edit in: i should say that i am not certain that the prob was with the SB .zip files, but that i suspect that it was.]

while i have had better luck than you with the items i have allowed SpyBot to deep six, i have learned that i also want to periodically delete the contents of that recovery folder, once i determine that i have no issues with what SB removed.

i think that alerting people to the potential danger in arbitrarily accepting every proposed deletion is a wise idea. what some may consider a nice feature (all of those choices), others may consider a defect. or, as you so succinctly put it, "this time I'll be a little more careful about what I'll let it dump."

:)
