[Hotwire a threat?] I wouldn't let Paradyne scare me. They've been pushing Hotwire CAP-based ADSL for several years and they're fighting a fierce battle. Since TI's doing the chip, there's no need to waste time worrying. As for CAP, I spoke with one of BA's managers who said their ADSL offering would support the CPQ-INTC-MSFT consortium line code and then he quickly added it would be flexible --- able to support either CAP or DMT. Ivan Seidenberg, BA COO and CEO-designate, gave a rallying cry for deregulation, specifically any efforts that would increase competition in data services. BA has developed a subsidiary called BA Network Integration to compete in this field. Every other sentence involved bandwidth and the need to get federal regulators to cooperate in jump-starting the industry.
