My own experience and others seems to validate that Siri has some really big problems with determining what the question is...

It appears the structure of the logic in the problems it has... reveals some major flaws in APPROACH...

Apple runs the risk that their beta effort will be accepted now as novel and therefore entertaining, even in its failure... and will then quickly lose it's entertainment value, once everyone tires of poking fun at how stupid it is... leaving them stuck in an inferior position in relation to the perception of the BRAND...

My mother in law isn't a "beta tester"... and she has now formed an opinion and a habit pattern...

Siri "doesn't get it"... because Apple "doesn't get it"...

Looks to me like a wide open competition... that could easily mean Apple is one generation away from being the next RIMM or NOK... if a faster, smarter competitor nails a "must have" gadget before Siri learns simple word association and grouping as proper queues to what the USER wants. What we see now... shows they're starting off with a logical structure focused on what they want to push through the pipes... instead of a proper view of the user as expert... accepting that the user knows what the user wants to know... better than Apple does. That "may not" doom the tech... but, my experience is that it will probably doom the organization, when you see them starting out by chasing things down the wrong paths.

It's not an easy problem... but, it sure is made harder when you start off not understanding what the problem IS... which both Siri and Apple appear to have incorporated as fundamental flaws in their efforts.
