I guess that is one of the reasons I always tend to take ratios and such with a considerable grain of salt since the numbers really need to be interpreted in the context of the business.

I'd like to clarify that, hoping you agree with me. For me, ratios taken out of context not only need to be taken with a grain of salt, they should be thrown in the trash bin. The ONLY way to appreciate a quantitative metric of any kind is within the context of all the qualitative metrics.
