IBM alone has not committed AIX to INTC's 64-bit Merced CPU

The pervasiveness of INTC's CPU domination has extended to UNIX :

" The alignment of major vendors with Solaris, HP-UX -
as well as the Unix players, Digital Equipment Corp.
and the Santa Cruz Operation Inc. - has left analysts
wondering what IBM Corp. plans to do with its AIX
version of Unix running on its line of servers. "

Will IBM's PowerPC 64 bit chip become an orphan ? Will the Air Force soon require AIX for its systems ?

Logical grounds for intensifying the DOJ investigation as UNIX was the OS the Federal Gov't (Air Force requirement) promoted to avoid IBM's domination .
