Hard to enjoy that music if somebody else's artillery shells are exploding in your back yard. Come on, Poet. Even you don't believe this. Defense has to have priority over optional items. And art is optional. A country can get along fine without gov't-sponsored art. It can't get along for an extended period of time without an army unless somebody else is protecting it. And then they have to dance to their tune, speaking of music.

In fact, life would not be worth living without the freedom to make art and to have that art made available to the citizenry.
Nobody is talking about removing your freedom. In fact, that is what the army is for- -to defend it. What we are talking about is GOVERNMENT-FUNDED art. There is no shortage of art in this country at all. Hollywood and New York pour it out.

available to the citizenry
OK. Let's play your game. Is it more important to spend money on art or health care?
