I totally agree with you, and am quite aware of what it is to be a sinner. I have been in the depths of sin during a dark portion of my life, and I know in my heart, that is was Jesus Christ that saved me from damnation. The best thing we can do is to tell others of the compassion of Jesus, and His willingness to save sinners, if only they would listen to His message, and do the simple thing of recognizing Him, and the truth of His message to all humans on Earth.
There are some people I have known, seen, or heard, in whom I can find no plusses but, it is not mine to judge in the final analysis. Only God can perform that, most difficult, task.
