"American Idol" last night featured Carrie Underwood traveling to Africa to raise awareness about malaria. After staying, [probably at the "Le Presidente Meridien"] Hotel in Angola, they got in their their Toyota four-runners to hand out mosquito nets in some village.

Gotta use those nets. God forbid they should spray the eves of the huts with DDT.

And this, the segment concludes, shows where the 140 million AI raised for African Relief went. Not to the villagers, of course. No, to pay for the four star hotels, Toyotas, and large salaries of the NGO employees.

We were providing relief for their grandparents, and will be doing it for their grandchildren.
