NYT might have been sensitive to the utter confusion in New York city after 9/11. Also, people criticized Bush because he left Washington. He said he was threatened, but some time after 9/11, I read, in the NYTimes, that the person or persons who phoned the White House with a threat had the wrong code word so it is anyone's guess as to why W flew all over the country.

A bit over sensitive IMO, but it's not a big deal.

I didn't have an issue with the Bush, flying about the country. Even in the absecence of a specific threat, it was a reasonable precautionary measure to take under the circumstances.
