His willingness to change his position, even when it angers his supporters, is a stark contrast to Bush's inflexibility. Two steps forward - One back. A concept for revolutionary change described first by Mao Zedong in 1964/65 in The Little Red Book, and again by Saul Alinsky in 1971 in Rules For Radicals. The initial goal is to create chaos, confusion and much fear. They are the primers for acquiescence later. When you believe it cannot get worse, you are ready for the change they really want to perpetrate.
