The Crime Branch of Delhi police have unearthed an unauthorised mini theatre complex, Leisure Bowl Sports Complex, at Vasant Kunj. Two persons, including the owner, have been arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the sports complex and detected a mini theatre on the second floor of the vuilding where an English film was being shown through projector from Laser Disc.
The ground floor and first floors of Leisure Bowl Sports Complex has the facilities of Leisure Bowl, Billiards Internet and various other indoor games and on the second floor is a mini theatre with a capacity of 42 seats and has Onkya VCD -LD player attached with projector and latest sound systems. The woner charges Rs 50 from each customer for one show.
On receipt of this information, two decoy customers entered the hall and purchased the ticket. Once the film started, the raid was conducted. During the search, seven Laser Discs of several films, and one video cassette was recovered.
The owner did not have any licence for the theatre nor the permission from Copy Right Owner fro screening the film for public view.
Those arrested are Harjit Singh Bawa, the owner and Mr. Puran Singh, operator. Further investigations are on. |
