Also, they may view any specific solutions to the problems they face as being valuable as trade secrets and therefore not be inclined to release them.

If I have understood it right we are talking about a new method of extraction - so you are right - But only talking about the expected costs per oz doesn't reveal any trade secrets, does it ?
