You nailed it!

McCain's campaign and the GOP convention were looking hopeless. When he chose Palin, it was the single biggest shot in the arm for the GOP campaign. Which is precisely why the democrats IMMEDIATELY RUSHED several plane loads of lawyers and assorted liberal jerks to Alaska looking for dirt and some way to derail her popularity with the Red Staters plus any abused Hillary Clinton voters. They were afraid as hell of Palin's potential strength in getting votes in the lower 48.

They remain so or wouldn't be chronicling her and the family to this day.

I hope she gets another chance, especially at the VP slot.

Gingrich has some good conservative ideas but carries plenty of baggage himself. Otherwise, he would have been in the '08 race IMO.

Whoever is going to beat Obama must be willing to confront him and his deeds directly and repeatedly. McCain failed miserably in confronting Obama. He was too worried about being PC, not to mention being stubborn as a mule.
