My longest conversation with him had to do with his conversion to Catholicism. It happened years ago, but it left me with the conviction that he was thoughtful, hugely intelligent and honest. Louisiana loves the guy. He's hyper-competent. Not exactly the qualities I see in Palin. She may not get re-elected in Alaska, or might decline to run if her re-election prospects are not good. If she runs and loses, she's finished nationally, so look to her to maybe not run as the risk of loss dooms her career. She's a sitting duck of a national candidate. All that has to be done is dust off the Couric interviews and the Tina Fey stuff. She has to keep her family on a tight leash, too.
