the industy's seasoanl cyclicality has become less important, and longer-term growth of the industry is clearly visible. your point is taken and it's reflected in Gottfried's chart; besides diversification/proliferation of IC's other factors like emerging economies and discipline in spending Capex $ are becoming a factor.
