Gregory,

Why does Intel have to warn by today

I don't believe that there is a legal requirement that a statement regarding future prospects has to be made in any specific time frame.

It's just that in May, when Intel gave their 2Q warning,

exchange2000.com

it occurred just before the open on the last trading day of May. Today is also the last trading day of this month, which is one month before the end of the quarter. If Intel anticipated a negative change from the 3Q projection, which was made when they released their results for the 2Q on 7/15, they would know already, and being the extremely conservative financial reporters that they have been, they would have released the information as a warning.

No warning means no bad news.

No warning is very good news.

I don't see a warning today, does anybody?

My prediction - eps 1.00 3Q97 - better than expected.

Barry
