Wow, what insight- I guess the sears catalog was going to rule mailorder sales forever, right? After all it was the first and biggest.

KISs, Stop wasting your breath pointing out the obvious. Reality doesn't matter in the least bit.

People forget, mainly because most are dead, how big, pervasive and dominant Sears (and MonkeyWards) mailorder was. One of my Grandfathers ordered a prefab type house from Sears and had it delivered to the sticks of northern Minnesota to be used as a cabin. And delivery (i.e. a barrier to entry) was not an easy feat back then, jeez even today you can't get there in a low slung car in the best weather in summer. My other Grandfather bought a case of dynamite from them to blast a well, although, he did go down to the store to pick it up. There is a reason for the joke that old catalogs were used in the outhouse - everyone had 'em and used 'em.

Achieving that type of success is only a dream for AMZN now, much less getting there and holding onto it.
