More than half a billion dollars earmarked to fight the insurgency in Iraq was stolen by people the U.S. had entrusted to run the country's Ministry of Defense before the 2005 elections, according to Iraqi investigators.

Its actually closer to $800 million. Last nite, they also featured this guy who is the minister of honesty. He investigates corruption. Incredible guy........Saddam tortured him twice.......his nose is badly disfigured.........both the insurgency and gov't officials are after him because he takes them to task when they are on the take. When asked if he's worried that they may try to kill him, he said let them try. He has 30 bodyguards. And when he asked for US help in tracking down the crooks, he's gotten none. Why didn't this article point that important fact out? Why is the gov't not trying to track done this money? Such crap!
