i think block votes by minorities, jewish , unions, teachers is very difficult to over come.. add to it republicans scandals.. and bush spending prescriptions for medicare, agriculture programs etc etc. plus mccain really didn't have strong conservative support. He won by default imo because his opponents ran such a poor race. only way conservatives have a chance is a major screw up, run away inflation, etc and they throw out the democrats...
