CJ, > Look at their list of issues. Some of those issues have been voted on. Give it a try. If you dare.
I had to click around, but I finally got here:
iavaaction.org
Most of the Congressional votes that IAVA took a position on seem to be obscure, but here's one that the IAVA opposed, but passed anyway:
******* Brady amendment; Spending Control Act of 2004 On Agreeing to the Amendment 06/24/2004 -- Brady amendment (No. 1 printed in H. Rept. 108-566) that establishes a Federal Sunset Commission to review all federal agencies and programs for their efficiency, effectiveness, redundancy, and need (by a recorded vote of 272 ayes to 140 noes, Roll No. 305). Bill Number: H.R.4663 *******
Sounds like a good amendment, no? Then I took a look at who voted for it and against it. Lo and behold, the only states that voted against it were "blue states," including NY, Mass, and CA.
How about the latest issue, the Military Commissions Act?
******* Military Commissions Act On Passage 09/27/2006 -- The House passed H.R. 6166, amended, to amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize trial by military commission for violations of the law of war, by a recorded vote of 253 ayes to 166 noes, Roll No. 491. Bill Number: H.R.6166 *******
Once again, this bill passed, even though the IAVA opposed it. Who voted against it? Once again, it's the blue states, including NY, Mass, and the entire left coast.
The version of this bill, the one the IAVA supported, was rejected by a vote that looked like the mirror image of the vote on the revised bill.
Now you tell me. Hidden agenda?
