Tuck: They won't let me sell puts in my IRA, where I do all my trading, so put sales are not an option (pun intended) for me. But I'm not sure put sales would always be a better deal than buy/write. In cases where call liquidity and premiums are much better than that of the associated put for a particular trade, this could easily outweigh the transaction cost and lower capital advantages of the put.
