Other Norman Thomas Quotes Sotomayor Could Have Chosen

Yesterday we posted about Obama Supreme Court nominee Sotomayor quoting a socialist leader in her Princeton yearbook.

The socialist leader she quoted was Norman Thomas, six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America, and a quick Googleing turns up a couple of other interesting quotes attributed to him.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." [LINK]

Sounds about right. Here is another:

"The difference between Democrats and Republicans is: Democrats have accepted some ideas of Socialism cheerfully, while Republicans have accepted them reluctantly" [LINK]

Smart guy, for a socialist.

It begs the question, what made her such a fan of Mr. Thomas, to go so far as to proudly quote him in print as a part of her yearbook? A quote in an ivy league school yearbook is no small matter for most students.

Keep in mind, many people wouldn't want to be judged by the politics they subscribed to during their college years. But some are proud and still hold the same beliefs. Into which category does she fall?
