Thomas, I don't make a practice out of propounding Predestination and Preturism on the thread these days. We at one time had 4 or 5 on the thread that were almost to the point of fanaticism on this and with the number of pre-rapture and pretribulation folks here abouts they have dwindled to maybe only one Preturist, namely, me. I usually discuss it with Nancy and at one time, Alan but he no longer posts.

I just wanted to mention that Calvin introduced nothing new in the reformed view of predestination, nor was it invented by him as Luther and Augustine propounded it before him.
I acknowledge that the greatest minds in history have had different viewpoints on this and arguebly so to a point of deep conviction by both sides. I happen to fall on the side of predestination from mainly my Bible studies and learning from R.C. Sproul.currently a professor of systematic theology at Reformed Theological Seminary and a director of Prison Fellowship.

I have looked at both full or as you might call it hyper dispensationalism and those that believe thjat some fulfillment has already happened. ie the fall of Jerusalem as happening in 78AD. We cannot avoid the many verses by Jesus, Paul, John and others that this was goint to happen in their generation and every statement made about it was always in the present sense. I wonder what the Apostles would have thought if Jesus said not to expect the Second Coming for 2000 years plus. They were looking forward to the event very eagerly considering what was said to make them believe that this was imminent. I love that word. IMMINENT:(about to happen; impending)
Anyway, some feelings are pretty raw on it so I do apologize to the other guys and gals on the thread for putting up with me. It is hard to unlearn a thing even though all of the pieces(imo) are just lying around to be put together and make it plain and clear just what was going on in the mind of Jesus and the Apostles.

Christians in every age since the year 1000 have believed that the rapture was going to happen to them specifically. Homes have been sold and earthly goods sold or given away more than once if that will give us any indication of their honesty and sincerity. To me there has to be something psychological about it. Like maybe our sense of importance being stretched too far. Why exactly does every age believe it is their generation that will see Christ's return?

I'll find time to look at the links.
