You know STF, after I read the article on why nickle is so valuable (the most stable element) and I learn more about its uses, I have a mental image whereby supply just cannot meet demand except at much higher prices.

Where are they going to get the milliona of tons of nickel for the new high pressure oil and gas pipes that will use .05 nickel, or the massive amounts of nickel cadmium batteries for cars liek the Preius, or for that matter more of the 300 series stainless steel which uses 8 to 12% nickel.

If it was any other metal, even zinc, there are lots of low grade deposits they can start mining, but nickel is sort of concentrated in a few places and they are all producing flat out now.

Sudbury and Norilsk alone supply over 60% of all the nickel in the world, I think, and they are going full blast. New caladonia supplies, I think about 12 to 15% of world supply.

That is 75% of all the nickel produced in the world!
