Zeev, << a lot is being said about the "high saving" rates in Japan relative to the US. Japan, 13% while the US has only 5% saving rate. I wonder if these figures compare apples to oranges.>> Quite some time ago I saw an article that attempted to level the comparison pointing out just the things you mentioned. It also pointed out that the average worker in Japan has no pension plan. Sorry but I cannot remember whether it was something I read on the web or not. I guess you could do a search on Yahoo entering "Japanese savings" as the criteria but I suspect every hit would find the server too busy. <G> Best, Stitch
