Bush is lying. Democrats are for phased withdrawl. That is a plan. But no plan is a great one because Bush has made such a debacle out of it in Iraq. Bottomline, we have to save our troops and our money. It's all being wasted over there.

Democrats are not a monolith so they don't all agree on the details, but that can be hammered out. Many top Republicans also agree on the phased withdrawl, as do experts like James Baker, whether they are saying so yet or not.

The fact is, Iraq is a total bloody mess now. And it will be a bloody mess whether we stay or go. Many people say that if we go, it will ease tensions tremendously and violence will subside. Only one way to find out. But if we stay, more of the same. And we certainly don't have any extra troops to send there. The theory of using overwhelming force is bogus. The time to try that was 2003. It's too late to try it now. That would just be gasoline on the fire.
