Unions have become the antithesis of efficiency.

I was in Beaumont, Texas in 1978 and needed to earn enough money to fly home. When the union was short on warm bodies they'd send out nonunion workers. My friends and I would show up at the union hall in the morning and get sent out to the docks. One day, I was working on a securing gang, securing heavy equipment on the deck of a ship. The union guys told us to slow down, we were working too hard and too fast.
