I must say that in Texas(don't know about other states) almost anyone can perform marriage ceremonies , And I was blessed to be able to baptize my daughter(in the sense of literally helping her proclaim her belief in Jesus as Savior and God's Son, and immersing her,recognizing that it is God that has done the work),and as far as pastoring our own congregation, our selected elders do that as overseers, and our minister proclaims the Word, and our teachers teach, and our givers give, and our encouragers encourage,,etc... and all are ministers in the Lord's church. All part of a body, of which there is only One Head, even Jesus.
On a personal note, the man that performed my wedding ceremony was "just" a deacon at our congregation. ((Which reminds me, you never answered my questioned earlier about who God puts together. :o) Maybe I should change that. Do you believe every marriage is God blessed?)) |
