Tuesday - After Hours The big news in after hours trading came from Microsoft, as software giant blew past consensus estimate of $0.34 in reporting a Q1 operating gain of $0.38 (in line with whisper number)... Company also announced that Y2K bug having little impact on business and that it sees excellent growth in Q4 due to strong PC unit demand, particularly in Asia... Guided Q2 estimates higher... Revenues rose by 28%... MSFT also noted that Windows 2000 would begin shipping in Q4... This was a big-time report from a big-time player and was just what the beleaguered tech sector needed... Stock up nearly three points in early after hours activity... Siebel Systems (SEBL) and Excite/AtHome (ATHM) also up big in after hours trading in reaction to earnings... Meanwhile, Ariba (ARBA) and Copper Mountain (CMTN) down more than 3 points each... Both companies exceeded estimates, so looks like a case of selling on the fact... CMTN also being pressured by news that it has released over 9 mln shares from lock-up earlier than expected... Finally, Xilinx bested the street by two cents and then announced a 2-for-1 stock split...
