That said, I guess both Dell and CPQ holders would have been better off buying AAPL a short while ago when it was selling for 13 bucks a share!!!

Tell me about it!

Down around that time I bought 100 call contracts at 40 for Jan 99 and sold them about a month ago for a small gain - ouch!

The only reason I brought it up was that you know Steve will hype this thing to the stars like it was the second coming of Christ. We all know that if you tell a lie loud enough and long enough, a lot of people will buy the thing just for that reason. Therefore I was hoping CPQ had some plans to counter the ads - maybe I am just overly concerned.

I ought to point out that I do not hate Apple. I work in a shop with 50 of them and you can see from above I had respect for product and the stock (but just noooooot quite enough).

Apple has its good points and next year's OS will help a lot. If they just made a major push to stick it on intel they could go somewhere. Not likely. Maybe in the grand scheme of things the OS we will all use will be some cross-platform open source code version of unix, such as Linux, but they have a lot to do first and that gives MSFT lots of time to react.
