"Competitive local exchange carrier NEXTLINK COMMUNICATIONS
(Nasdaq: NXLK) (N) (S) popped out of the initial public offering box today,
gaining $6 1/4 from its IPO price of $17 to close at $23 1/4. Founded by
McCaw Cellular principal Craig McCaw, the company has trailing revenues of
$0.70 per share and has run negative gross cash flow of $0.97 per share over
the last twelve months. "

"NEW YORK (DBC) -- Shares of Nextlink Communications soared 36 percent above their offering price Friday as investors rushed to get a piece of the three-year-old company founded by telecommunication hotshot Craig McCaw.

The run-up comes even after the Bellevue, Wash.-based company increased the number of shares it was offering from 15.2 million shares at 16 to 17, up from the original plan to issue 13.2 million
shares at a range of 14 to 16. More than 9 million shares changed hands and the stock closed at 231/4, which is where shares first traded on Friday."
