Power helix antenna by Symmeticom.

Sounds like a directional antenna? I not sure how it would work
on a hand held unit. If it's practical and decreases radiation to the
head, then it would be a good thing. It would decrease the advantage
of PCS in this area.

In RCR I read that the Japanese low power system called PHS or
Personal handphone system? is a big hit there with 3 million
subscribers. It's great for densely populated areas with lots of
obstructing structures. It works in buildings and basements with
an extremely clear signal. Cellular has not been hurt and is still
growing and is used more by businesses. PHS is used more for
personal use. From their discription, PHS has cell sites every 1-2
kilometers and sounds a lot like what PCS is here.

If what is happening in Japan turns out to be true in the USA, then
there is plenty of room for Nextel.
