Selling puts has been one of Microsoft's favorite maneuver, too.

First of all, the company pockets the proceeds right away, and in the rare event when the shares go down--thus being "put" to it, the company could just dip into the "buy-back" funds and purchase the shares cheaply.

According to some Microsoft employees on SI, MSFT has never been put the shares yet--just think about all that extra revenues!

I wouldn't be surprised if Intel has been doing the same thing.
