Dear tech: The largest one day loss on a percentage basis was Black Monday in 1987. The market would have had to drop 2,500 points last Friday to equal that one day loss.

Try to look at percentage drops and increases. Both are far more important than the number up or down.

Regarding volatility, I honestly would not mind retesting Friday's prices. It would give me the opportunity to move more shares from my regular to Roth IRA--we only have two times we can do this each year and I have one more time left :)
