more than 60 percent of parents who will be giving kids and teen-agers a wireless phone this festive season The article is saying that 60% of those who will give a phone think a certain way. It is NOT saying that 60% of parents in general will give a phone. As far as I can see, it says nothing about the total number of people buying mobiles for their children.
