- Samsungs wholesale pricing perspective for 2003 is flat ASPs. He attributed it to the additional features on the new handsets plus shorter product life cycles, reducing discounting at the end of a product's life cycle.

- Lauer tried to talk a little about the PCS shortfall at RSH in Q4 without saying too much. His comments included:

Do Not correlate weakness in sales at RSH with overall gross adds and net adds.

The rebates that were added for existing customers were only available at Sprint stores and not available at RSH in Q4. They are working with RSH to add that capability.

We were well aware of the activation problem at RSH when we offered our guidance on 12/12.

- Lauer felt some of the very aggressive entry level pricing plans by a select group of their peers will prove to be mistakes several quarters out.

- RSH is trying to align their compensation(or further align) so they get paid more for longer duration contracts and higher ARPU rate plans. They also highlighted VZ and PCS's PTT plans and felt they are uniquely positioned to set up and sell this service.

- Samsung guy highlighted ev-do in Korea and said they were seeing 600kbps in commercial service. He also discussed their camcorder product they introduced(today, he said).

- RSH said the color screens and cameras are generating a lot of customer interest.

- RSH specifically highlighted AWE and Cingular's migration problems going from TDMA to GSM as putting those carriers at risk to lose customers to VZ and PCS. They were talking about number portability at the time.

- It sounds like RSH will become the primary outlet for Futuredial cables and software to hook up your Vision phone to a PC. I think this is a shift from PCS almost trying to hide the cables.

- Their uptake rate for data services is over 1/3(33%) as of the 12/12 Investor conference. Now, we know Vision uptake was in the high teens and rising as of that time, but this includes both 2G and 3G data services. 2G services would include their Wireless Web, Ringers&More, and I'm not sure what else. The 33% figure is way higher than I would have thought.
