"Buy on the rumor, and sell on the news." The reason stocks run up before earnings announcements, and fall back afterward. It is usually a temporary trading impact on the stock."

So should we sell Compaq stock the day after it reports its earnings, then buy back again a few days later when the stock price has dropped some?
