It's getting much worse for that seller today (1.5M shares sold at $14 5/8 on 6/26/97). At $17 3/8, he traded away a 19% gain in a couple of weeks, or $4.1 milion dollars. Wish I'd bought some more in the $13 range, but I've learned not to average too far down. I'm just barely underwater today and looking forward to a stronger 4th quarter. With OS8 coming out and some new fastest-in-the-world CPUs coming out next month, along with the historical back-to-school boost, I believe AAPL has a good shot at profitability even though the execs are downplaying the possibility in order to guarantee they won't lose face whether Q4 is profitable or not.
