Dear sueponine: My deepest sympathies to your best friend over the death of their son. I have only one son and if he were to die, I think it would kill me too. Horrifying thought.
As to investing, IMHO so long as you dont need the money for a few years, dont buy on margin and stick to quality tech stocks you cannot lose at yesterdays prices. Take SUNW for instance, its been down as much as 20% from its highs yet sales, backlog, production, cash flow almost any number you can look at is growing at a faster and faster clip and there is no indication that will end soon. Same is true of EMC which by the way is supposed to make an earthshaking announcement today regarding new product, I advise all tech people to read it, no one knows what its about but CEO says its the biggest announcement they have ever made. Thats enough to have me on the edge of my chair. JDN
