Hi Elroy,

Not really.

McDonalds University required one to be a franchisee owner or senior manager of a McDonalds They attend with a lot of skin in the game and substantial wealth.

In its original form, a student who passed the academic standards, then had to find a division of GM that would employ (sponsor) the student for a 5 year period which culminated in a thesis study chosen by the sponsoring division.

Today Kettering has hundreds of sponsoring corporations (UPS, Rockwell,Lear) who give students the ability to work their way through the rigorous academic load.

It is an entry level opportunity for many who do not have the financial resources (other than taking on debt) to achieve a degree.

I will forever be grateful for Chevrolet Central Office sponsoring me during those 5 years. I had zero debt after earning my BSIA - marketing.

In a small attempt to repay my debt of gratitude, I sponsored two fine young men through The Kettering University. One went on to graduate from a Dallas Seminary and pursued missionary work in Brasil along the Amazon River. The other currently is a partner in a large group of automotive body shops in the Houston market.

I believe the Kettering University experience was very formative in my conservative/business views vs those of the many liberal schools that expounds on less productive liberal views.

As a "techer" we endured entry level employment for 5 years. It was humbling, aggressive, and long.

I feel today, many millenials have had so much smoke blown up their butts about how elite they are with their degree, that they fear entry level and become professional students sadly burdened with a huge debt load. jmho

Any High School grad I meet, I encourage them to look into kettering. It's a very smart start.

Bob
