Dear Young--Just got online tonight, and I may be the tenth person to say the same thing, but no, IOMG didn't sell the technology to Compaq, but to 3M. Am still laughing (albeit somewhat bitterly) over this morning's WSJ article: obviously an (almost) sincere effort on their part to say something nice about IOMG. But they like Compaq SO much better. In the end it's mendacious and ill-informed. The Zip hasn't been incorporated as a substitute for a 1.44MB floppy drive in any computers made by IOMG's OEMs?? Acer?? We're told that the LS-120 is larger (20 MB, who cares?), and that it's backward compatible, but not a word about how much SLOWER it is. And so on. Okay, okay, IOMG's market cap is ridiculous by normal standards, but let's be fair! I repeat what I said in my last post: if IOMG wants to seize the moment it really must find a way to ramp up production so fast that the competition won't stand a chance. If YOU were KE, what would you do? What are your options? Your mission is to take over the storage drive industry. What now? Janice.
