Harris has a tie-up with Lucent for encoders. Lucent is currently using the IBM chip-set to do 4:2:2 encoding. Lucent wants a single chip encoder by September. If IBM doesn't deliver?(they may, they are number 2 in MPEG-2 encoding) Intel won't be the CPU in the new TCI boxes........................ news.com In another RISC victory, sources say Intel apparently will not supply TCI with processors for 10 million set-top boxes.
