Hello Michael, welcome back or should I say, welcome to a computer... nice to hear from you.

Yes, I think that chap Mr. Kurlak deserves some sort of award, not sure which one, but I reckon he's a pretty popular figure in Boise... he obviously didn't consult with the potato tycoon who had to liquidate on a margin call at 24.. if only Mr. Kurlak could have intervened earlier he would have had access to an unlimited supply of potatoes.

I'd like to short MU but the shareholders are like ticks hanging on to a mangey hound and I think they'd rather die with the hound than hop to another specimen...

I'm also a bit puzzled as to why every computer maker is having an amazing season. Surely one of them must be doing less stupendously than the others! But apparently not. I had thought that CPQ would make it to 80, but so far it's only managed 75 and today it looks like the MMs want it down to 70 so their friends don't get too burned with all those calls. Should pop back tomorrow after 2 PM.

The one thing I would say in CUBE's favor is that they are the captains of encoding technology and although decoding chips, MPEG-1 chips and then MPEG-2 chips, will go the way of other commodity products, being no. 1 in encoding will give them a leg up. This may not be the equivalent of proprietary technology but it's as close as you get. What do you think? And you have to admit the field is going to be enormous over the next 10 years (from camcorders and DVD to satellite boxes not to mention digital TVs).

I guess you've mentioned Taiwan already in the thread so I'll check on that now.

Take care,

Thomas
