The Jack Welch / Scott McNealy Story. The only obvious thing to me in the "Scotty as GE CEO speculation" is that it is sure to further motivate the likely candidates within GE to perform well in their present positions to enhance their chances. The public perception that Scott might possibly be an external candidate is all that Welch could ever want or hope for - it is a wonderful PR story for GE and very flattering to Scott. Ken Wilson
