The 144 kbps service that Sprint (and others) will have is known as "two and one-half G." True 3G will come later, in several years. Two and half G is what will be here later in 2001 - this year! There is a difference between true 3G and two and a half G. Did you not know that??
The last time I looked, the Sprint network was much bigger than the Metricom street lamp network.
